A terminal is the terminus point for a Beems’ Koveran energy. It is generally bulb-like and is where the energy is stored and co-ordinated with the other terminals.
Types of Terminals
1. The primary (hull) terminal: Every ship with terminals will generally have a terminal directly astern, attached directly to the hull. This is where most of the koveran energy will be kept and is the most vital terminal. Losing the hull terminal is generally fatal for a Beems, even a Descendent.
2. The secondary (wing/tail) terminals: There have to be two of these for the gravimetric lens to be triangulated properly in realspace. The loss of a secondary terminal is generally fatal for a Beems, as it is a vital limb and the arterial spray would be impossible to stop in time without the assistance of another ship (see: Violet getting shot). A Descendent, however, can seal off the incapacitated terminal and function properly(ish).
3. The tertiary (redundant) terminals (RT’s): Some Beems have tertiary terminals. These are terminals that work just like secondary terminals but are not required for the creation of an interstice or gravimetric lens. Tertiary terminals can assist in the production of multiple gravimetric lenses, as well as focus a single lens to perfection. A good example of a starship that has mastered RT’s is the Puritan starship Kite.
