Chapter: Final meeting.
“This will be our last meeting.” Pending explained, “Last secret meeting, that is. I’m sure you are all aware of what happened. The Hybrid returned David’s unconscious body to Raum with a shuttle. They didn’t try to intercept it because they thought it was ours… they definitely don’t think that anymore. Zemoria now has a monopoly over what is undoubtedly the most dangerous weapon ever created.”
“I have blocked the Dauntless from receiving any calls from the Coalition.” Leyton reported calmly. “My crew do not know we’re fugitives.”
“Nobody does – nobody in this system anyways. We have to leave whi—”
The door opened and two shots rang out, killing Pending and Leyton instantly. Marina trained her pistol on Bombard.
“You were Lance’s employer.” she said.
“Y-Yes.” Bombard stammered. There was no hope hiding it now.
“Why?”
“The Hybrids… they’re too dangerous.” he sputtered, nearly falling out of his chair. “Don’t kill me.”
“You are to cancel the contract on 131 immediately. Deep Grey and its fleet are yours. Orders are straight from Raum himself.”
All he could do was nod.
With that, she left the meeting room.
